    Understand Stroke

    You can help save a life

    A stroke happens when blood flow to an area of the brain is cut off. Brain cells are deprived of oxygen and begin to die. Each year about 185,000 people die from a stroke. By learning the many warning signs of a stroke – you can help save a life.

    1 FACE

    Ask the person to smile. Dose one side of the face drop?

    2 ARMS

    Ask the person to raise both arms. Does oneside drift downward?

    3 SPEECH

    Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is their speech slurred or strange?

Ischemic stroke

Overview: Stroke are the second global major source of fatal injury [5]. It can be happened due to the blockage in one of the brain arteries, which may prevent blood supply to the brain tissue [1]. About 87% of the majority stroke are ischemic stroke [5]. The main cause of the ischemic stroke is the narrowing in the arteries [1]. There are two types of ischemic stroke, the first one is an embolic stroke, which is created outside the brain and transfer from the body to the brain by the bloodstream. The second one is the thrombotic stroke that performed inside one of the arteries directly supplying the brain [5].

Overview: Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is a cerebrovascular condition which may cause a clot formation into the brain sinuses [1]. CTV is a serious illness that affects all age groups including children [2]. It can cause death in up to 30% from the reported cases [3]. The main symptom of this type of stroke is headaches and stroke symptoms.

Classification of strokes

It is a medical term to describe the condition occurring as a result of the poor blood flow to a part of the brain resulting in cell death. It is the result of blockage or rupture of blood vessels or hemorrhage in the brain. Most of records failed to identify a clear cause in 25-39% of patients.
